Welcome

I have been in search of who my Grandfather was for about 1 year now. It all started when my dad asked me to scan and store his and his brothers old pictures and documents onto CD's so that we could have an organized record of everything. Little did I know that I would have started on a journey to discover my family ancestry.

I was amazed at the pictures and documents and wanted to know more. Unfortunately, my father was unable to provide a lot of information about his father. This was also true about my Uncle's as well. My Grandfather had 3 sons who didn't know him very well.

My Grandfather's name was Pietro (Peter) Casazza.

My Grandfather was born in Casanova Italy in May 28, 1884. His parents were Paolo and Angela Ferretti. He came to the United States on Nov 6, 1912 on a ship called the Berlin. He settled in Manhattan, NY. The Ellis Island ship's record indicates that he was going to see his brother Andrea who lived on Sullivan Street. He was 28 years old and single. Like most immigrants, he came to find a better life for himself.

My Grandfather started out working in Lofts Candy Factory and it was here that he met his future wife Henrichetta Raffo. She had came to the United States 1 month after (Dec 3, 1912) my Grandfather on a ship called the Cincinnatti. They were married in 1916 in Mahattan and initially settled down there. They eventually moved to 40th Street in Brooklyn where they had 3 sons.

My Grandfather's trade was construction. He spent most of his time here working for a company called B. Turecamo Construction Company building roads and bridges in the Brooklyn area.

That's about it. I don't know if my Grandfather had any brothers or sisters. I have a company in Europe trying to retrieve family records but they have reported back 2 times that there are no records of him or his family.

I am at a lost on what to do next.
